and that concludes my travels, that already concluded over 24 hours ago as I was too lazy to continue writing the trip report until now. Massive shout out to @amaury-cts.bsky.social for hosting me :D

From Lyon I took the direct Clermont-Ferrand train home. I had a nice private compartment until Roanne :D

Bourg en Bresse to Lyon via Ambérieu, and there were problems on the tracks there. Either way I was just happy our delay was just 10 minutes, as I was quite hungry and wanted to have a full meal during my Lyon transfer.

I went to Lyon on the direct regional express train. It would take 4 hours and travel a distance of 328km ran by uncomfortable Régiolis sets. It wasn't too bad, just slow, until Lons-le-Saunier where it got properly busy. We also gained a 10 minute delay as due to electrification, we had to do

Belfort was absolutely frigid, also inside the station, so I went on a short walk to stay warm. I came back at just the right time though, my next train would take 4 hours and be busy.

The journey would then continue to Belfort, with a quick TER bound for Paris. I worried a bit about not having a reservation despite it only being required heading to/from Paris, but nobody checked my ticket.

In Mulhouse I had about 45 minutes, which I used to have breakfast and walk a small lap around the canal

After just barely making it to my train in time, the wonderful TER200 with Corail carriages, I say goodbye to my host, and take it to Mulhouse

We start with a quick walk through Strasbourg, which is just lovely.

We were very happy to finally have a bed again after a too long and stressful day, and well rested, the next day I'd go home.

We ended up travelling through Switzerland through the night. Ending up on the Canopus night train from Zürich to Prague for the Basel-Offenburg section. After a painful hour long wait in Offenburg, we boarded the Regioshittle with bus seats to Kehl.

I suspect it might be the magnetic strip in my new debit card. I feel like it doesn't sound when I have it in my wallet, only seperately in my pocket.

It's also never happened while travelling, only when shopping locally.

I was really happy to see this station and a Swiss train

Basel-Strasbourg via Germany instead of via France. As well as not being able to explore any of the cities we wanted to explore.

The bus to Bellegarde finally arrived. I managed to organise a plan B with my Swiss friend who hosted me last time, but it wasn't necessary. We made the train the buses connected to. Arrival in Genève: 17:10.

We are still able to do our original plan, but not in daylight and have to do

In Culoz there were replacement buses that were supposed to arrive at 14:50

They arrived at 15:20. We decided to bail via Annecy when that train arrived, but missed it while we were still on the overpass....

Before turning back to Culoz. Here are the two pictures of shame from there.

The plan was to arrive in Genève at 12:35, meet up with two more friends there, and explore Genève, Basel, and Bern. However, things went disastrously wrong. Between Culoz and Bellegarde, a freight train in front of us broke down. We sat at the abandoned station of Pyrimont-Chanay for 1.5 hours

After arriving and meeting up, we take some evil-looking trams to Part-Dieu station, and then head towards Genève
