So many variables, so much information, so many stories but so little time & such small windows for attention and audience retention… it’s a tough ecosystem for sure. There are very interesting studies in journalism, communication & social psychology research, if you’re interested, btw.

Feels like it’s worth adding: I am among those who are extremely worried that if even 1 of their many drafted-then-deleted social media posts, likes/reposts on climate change, political discourse, media, research funding, or immigration etc. were published, they could lose their careers & dreams. 😥

Can confirm: self-censorship among people vulnerable to sudden, devastatingly vast blows to their lives & futures - early career scientists, non-citizens, non-White folks…& those whose *social media posts* will be the basis of petty, retaliatory, vindictive actions against a) them & b) free speech.😔
