If Canadians really want to support trans folks in the U.S., they have to fight like hell against the same anti-trans rhetoric and policies here at home. We literally have provinces passing anti-trans legislation. Canada is not safe.

And here is where, again, we need to stop talking about "the public sphere" as if it ever existed. There were always multiple publics - some w/ more power & access to mainstream spaces like media where political deliberation happens - there are dominant publics, counterpublics, and more.

What does it tell you about Canada that every major political party committed itself to completing the TRC's 94 Calls to Action yet, 9 years in, only 13 have been completed—with no new completed calls whatsoever in 2023 or 2024? The failure of reconciliation has been, quite frankly, shameful.
