Bridgy Fed has always had a simple way to block users over the bridge, whether the other user is bridged or not.
If the user is bridged, you can use your native platform’s blocking features. If the u...

A glimpse into the Bridgy Fed monitoring dashboards. Pretty conventional mix of infra, OS, and app level metrics.
Note the delay numbers. When you do something in one network, how quickly do we bridge it across? We pay a lot of attention to that, we try hard to keep it as fast as possible!

Today, we're launching a feature that a number of Bridgy Fed users have been asking for: notifications for unbridged interactions.

Launch: Notifications from Unbridged Users
So far, Bridgy Fed has been doing a smooth job of connecting users between ecosystems, enabling cross-protocol communication over the bridge. That said, there are limitations when a user who isn't bri...

I've been paying for Bridgy Fed myself, out of pocket, since the beginning. I'm happy to, and I'll continue to, but it's not cheap. We have big ideas and plans for the future, and funding is our main blocker. Please help if you can!
Today, we're launching $1 & $2 tiers on our Patreon so more of our community can support us!
As a part of that, we also wanted to share where our funding is currently coming from and what community funding can help lead to for the future of Bridgy Fed & Bounce.
Check it out in the post below 👇🏼

New status update! We have big projects and features cooking, but there’s still lots of good stuff in here: broader fediverse delivery, fix for replies (etc) that occasionally don’t make it to Bluesky, web UI improvements, account links, fediverse interop fixes, and more. Enjoy!
Hi everyone! It’s been a few months since last time, so let’s dive into another status update. The big new projects and features we’ve been working on are elsewhere or still baking, so it’s mostly smaller additions and bug fixes, but there’s still plenty of good stuff.
* On the fediverse, we now try to deliver replies to all upstream authors in the thread. This is complicated, and varies by ActivityPub implementation, but we now more closely match common inbox delivery and notification conventions, so fediverse users should now see and get notified of bridged replies more often.
* Hopefully fixed a persistent issue where replies, likes, reposts, and quotes sometimes wouldn’t get bridged to Bluesky if they post they depended on hadn’t finished bridging yet. Another complicated one, still keeping an eye on it for now.
* Web UI on fed.brid.gy:
* Made login UX more forgiving
* We now refresh profiles on login
* Improved OAuth compatibility with more old versions of Mastodon
* Fixed a bug in the activity logs on user pages
* Fixed a bug with follower/following counts on networks where the user is no longer bridged
* Added support for fediverse admins to opt in users at the instance level, including automatic custom Bluesky handles. More details.
* For fediverse developers: added FEP-ffd proxy links to ActivityPub objects. More background.
* Made ATProto custom domain handles more case-insensitive
* ActivityPub: after `Delete`, `Create` or `Update` now undeletes
* Fixed Misskey and Sharkey interop for users with pinned posts
* Improved GoToSocial interop (thanks GtS!)
* Improved error messages for DM invitations
As usual, feel free to ping us with feedback, questions, and bug reports, and please support us on Patreon! You can follow the _now_ label on GitHub to see what we’re currently focusing on. See you on the bridge!

Got another new post! Bridging identity with account links. They’re a simple, modular way to connect your various accounts and posts across the open social web. Bridgy Fed supports them, and we’d love to see other apps and platforms adopt them too.

Bridging identity with account links
One of the most common questions we get here is, “can you help me connect all my different accounts?” You’re on Bluesky, and Instagram, and Mastodon, you make a video series on YouTube, you have a blog, sometimes you post on Reddit, and a while back you set up

New blog post! Bridging vs cross-posting. They’re similar, but bridged conversations tend to be more unified across networks, while cross-posting ends up more fragmented.

Hi all! We never got into the habit of posting here regularly, but we’re going to start now. We have things to tell you! Bridgy Fed updates, new projects, other news. We don’t plan to post often, maybe once a week or so at most, but feel free to unfollow if you want, your account will keep bridging.

Hi all! We had some downtime for Bluesky => fediverse last night, starting 10:15p PT, and fediverse => Bluesky this morning 7-10a PT ish. We've worked through the backlog and should be back to normal now. Sorry for the trouble!

Pro tip: you can find a bridged fediverse user by searching for their address (eg @[email protected]) or profile URL (eg https://mastodon.social/@Gargron) here in Bluesky and then clicking the People tab. No need to figure out their translated Bluesky handle. Try it!

Finally managed to optimize our firehose processing from ~200 events/s up to 3-4k/s. Bluesky => fediverse bridging backlog is down from its high of 3d to just 18h now, should be caught up and back to realtime in another 5h or so.
Thanks for your patience, all, apologies again for the delay!

Bridgy Fed is struggling to handle the recent flood of new Bluesky users. 10-20x usage increase, wow!
Fediverse => Bluesky is still bridging ok, but Bluesky => fediverse is well over a day behind. It'll take me some time to optimize it enough to handle the new load. Apologies for the delay!
