the easiest way to take away space from cars in Hamilton

Hamilton is not much like NYC but between the HSR and our public waste department, by God, we're going to get there

everyone agrees this should be closed to cars for the safety of children walking to school, and yet the combined efforts of our traffic, fire and transit departments have resulted in... no action

pathetic

another question I have: who at city hall do you have to bribe to get *two* driveway accesses across a multi-use trail?

this is a stupid design error; we need to learn that you can just say "no, that's unreasonable and it's too bad for you that living next to a multiuse trail has some compromises"

I of course have some complaints: why does every. driveway. interrupt. the. grade?!

this makes cycling uncomfortable and snow clearing difficult, for no measurable benefit; it's 100% using cycling infrastructure to serve drivers. in other spots, they have to bump over a curb:

I cycled the newly reduced Kenilworth / Mountainbrow. this is a big improvement for cycling, and I love how it makes it feel like a second waterfront

how to explain "15 minute cities": it's like, instead of every neighborhood just having a storm water runoff pond, they have *everything you drive to for errands*

really getting sick of this intersection on the Kent "Bicycle Boulevard"

1. it's simply not accessible
2. if I go on the sidewalk, it's illegal
3. then if I bike in the crosswalk, that's illegal
4. but I wouldn't have time to get back into position
5. there isn't room for my kids to come with me

I was in crystal beach last weekend and noted signs warning people not to walk in the sensitive dunes -- "without dunes, there would be no beaches".

guess who won't be asked to vacate their private land to allow for dunes

I love it actually

no trip too short, no load too small

Ferguson Ave, the one North-South route that enters downtown Hamilton, has been closed for over a month for a demolition
June 25, 2025 at 3:42 AM
loblaws hates Hamilton
June 13, 2025 at 12:14 AM
to preserve what's left of the neighborhood character, we should be building more of these and less tear-it-down-and-build-another-sfh in kirkendall
May 29, 2025 at 11:07 AM
I always feel like Hamilton has way too wide of roads for the traffic level, and I mostly travel in the west-of-downtown lower city

it's a whole other level of airport runway up on the mountain

please use other sidewalk

imagine dedicating your life to building infrastructure for transport, and forgetting to check if it even works #BikeHamilton
May 19, 2025 at 5:57 PM
sad that we were so close to having a good, straight, kid-navigable bike route into Kirkendall and it was squashed to save a few parking spots

siiiick! replacing two parking spots with "nobody ever drives in the cycle track" is a good trade!

related: biked home during golden hour with our youngest, wondering how many more of these rides I'll get
April 28, 2025 at 4:09 PM
I could have called a tow truck, but that would have been over-kill
April 23, 2025 at 2:26 AM
yay! wait no

cannon #BikeHamilton is back, baby!

I scaled this by income so you can see how little a difference any of this makes (not you NDP, your fine)

i honestly can't understand why anyone thinks they'll win this election by promising a specific sub-1% tax-break to the middle class. do they think we are stupid?
