Indeed! An incline will greatly affect how far or fast I can walk. I abhor up.
In general terms about whether there IS a shop locally that could be reached I may say it's "walkable" but in terms of what I would actually WALK... totally different area....

Summers though we're within walking distance of butchers and greengrocers as well as supermarkets and I think at least one cheesemonger. But that town in "special". (Pretty sure for example you can't get underwear there... but designer bags and such are easy)

My mother lives within walking distance of two butcher's shops not including the butcher in the supermarket. But not a greengrocer. My town has no remaining butcher outside the supermarkets (though there is one in each). The last closed a couple of years ago. I still can't think of a greengrocer.

This is what I expect these days - one of our local butchers took a job with the supermarket. You could still go in and "ask your butcher", it's just inside the supermarket. Same man, same job, different employer....

But to be fair the two local "malls" have butcher shops too. One is award winning.
