I feel the way about a few of his movies - especially Nightmare Alley. The camera is just floating around when locking it down and finding interesting framing would have been better

As someone who enjoyed it, I think your observations and criticisms are fair! There's a weird feeling too in how this leans so hard away from the original established art direction + tone and into almost self parody.
