This is my second teapot, focusing on balancing design and function. The narrow base and side handle affect stability, so I’ll glaze everything except the handle to shift the weight and improve balance.

I also redesigned the lid with a disk for easier grip, making it more practical.

As someone who only started pottery last year, my instinct has usually been to make something sculptural, to push the boundaries of how things can look. Functionality often felt secondary, even optional. But making this teapot was different. It made me think deeply about how it would be used #teapot

The winter sun is gentle, but sharp enough to highlight the curves and edges, picking up on textures that aren’t usually so noticeable.

I’ve got 113 pieces now in all shapes and sizes, all at the bisqueware stage. My shelves were maxed out ages ago—there’s barely room to squeeze in anything new. It’s getting a bit out of hand, but it’s amazing to see the collection coming together like this.

What I find most interesting about this piece is how it goes beyond just being a useful pot and feels more like a sculpture. I really like making pieces that feel more like art and seeing how far I can push the idea of what pottery can be. #pottery #ceramics #handmade

Let’s be real—most people would probably see it as one of those “look-but-don’t-touch” pieces you hide away in a glass cabinet so it doesn’t accidentally topple over and take a few innocent bystanders with it.

I’ve been eagerly awaiting the moment when I could fill up this shelf and capture a picture of these vases, most of which are now bone-dry, their surfaces revealing the subtle textures I’ve carefully crafted.

I resisted the urge to trim the neck really thin, and I’m glad I did. The shape feels strong and bold, but it still has that nice, delicate curve. It balances really well in my hands. Later today, I’ll need to throw a chuck so I can get the bottom trimmed properly.

When I hold this vase with my hands, I feel everything about it-its weight, the subtle balance, the texture beneath my fingertips. This isn’t something you get with smaller pieces. With those, there’s a certain distance. But with this, I’m fully wrapped around the form. #pottery #ceramics #handmade

Holding it, it still feels warm, almost like I’ve just picked it from a nest.

What kind of glaze would you picture on it?
