I taught a class for the olds (i.e. our customers) how to use the Internet in 1998 and when it came time to demo newsgroups avoiding porn was a challenge.

I have read industrial histories from the 1870s that claim the 1850s were one bad idea after another but anyone who tried to stop them were told they did not understand the new thinking. This is how boilers and flour factories end up exploding.
