Drosophila enthusiast. Assistant Professor of Mol Bio and Biochem at Rutgers U. Runner. Uses brain to think about brains. All around curious person.
Take-my-nephew-to-lab day was highly successful. Nephew asked (loudly) as a colleague went by, “Is that the grumpy old scientist?” Goodnight Lab book really set that expectation. 😂 Shoutout to colleague for saying “publish or perish!” to him in a grumpy voice. It’s his new favorite phrase. 💀

Such a sweet Swedish Christmas program at the Philadelphia American-Swedish museum! And I ate my fill of Lucia bullar! Nephew loved that they sung the tomte songs he knows. 🎄 🕯️ 🇸🇪

I went out running in the wintry mix and then drove to work this morning. Goose snuggled on a heat pad and blanket. Goes to show having a PhD is no indicator of good life choices! 😂 😭 🐶

Those first three are my kids’ and these ones are my grands’. I made my first one from a kit in high school and added the name for my son’s first Christmas with us a decade later. I’d already bought a second kit which I made for my daughter. And so now everyone needs one!

If you’ve seen me at a conference or symposium in the last decade, you’ve probably seen me making one of these! The hard proof that I love my children and grandchildren 😂. Cuz these take me 50+ hours each. 🪡

Goose likes to sit on a blanket. He’ll count almost anything as a blanket. A paper towel. A piece of dirty laundry. He even prefers to be on a small blanket on top of larger blankets.

Amazing seminar day at NJIT Center for Injury Biomechanics, Materials, and Medicine! They’re doing fascinating and lifesaving work on blast injuries in a wide array of model systems.

When I commission art, you don’t have to look very hard 😂

Also #medalmonday for Goose, who did absolutely nothing. He just likes being part of what everyone else is doing.

#medalmonday for the three of us in the lab who ran the Princeton Half Marathon! A successful first half marathon for @keisukefukumura.bsky.social and grad student Sergio! 🏃‍♀️ 🏃 🏃‍♂️

Princeton Half Marathon in 1:48:16! Beating last year’s time by four minutes on a very hilly course (watch says 719 feet 🥵)! 🏃‍♀️ #sundayrunday

I got Halloween lights up because holiday lights are one of my favorite things in dark times. I intended this to be a malevolent skeleton ripping the lights off the house, but my nephew took one look and said, “The skeleton is a helper!” 💀

I love the D&R canal trail in all seasons, but she’s really going all out with fall vibes for this weekend’s 12-miler!

Lab once again slayed with the Halloween group costume for the institute party.

The park by my house is a continual delight. Beautiful public spaces should not be taken for granted, especially in These Times.

Trenton Quaker meeting annual retreat is today - so of course we took a 90 minute lunch break to walk over to #noKings #quaker

Lil after work art therapy! And now the “No cats in America” song will be in my head for the rest of the weekend. And maybe yours too! 😝 #nokings

Goosey was not so pleased to get swabbed for his DNA test before breakfast. But he’s excited to come guest lecture in my class this spring about his results! #sciencewithGoose 🐶 🧪

The more you look, the worse it gets. Look how many fingers the mammals have, as they drip cells into culture! 🧪

Holy AI, Batman! I’d hope MidSci would know better what organisms actually look like.
