This is obscure: Avalon (1998) is a #DOS role-playing game in the #jRPG style, indie developed by one Dutch man, Jeroen Derwort. The game has such a Japanese #MSX or #PC98 vibe, right down to the surprisingly great atmospheric music and brilliant animated intro. #retrogaming

In #Skyrim, for me, the best part of the game is the DLC that adds vampire hunting and crossbows. I love that shit so much even today in 2026, that I feel like #Bethesda should be allowed to make an open world #Castlevania game.

Wild Arms (1996) is one of my favorite classic console RPGs of all time, a #PS1 #jRPG that slightly predated FFVII with 3D combat sequences, clearly cheaper looking, but more groundbreaking. The score is one of the best of all time, and the opening animated sequence is legend. #retrogaming

Aoi Blink (1990) is perhaps the best #PCEngine HuCard game not to come to America, and certainly one of the most enjoyable platformers on the system. You play three heroes at once (less weird than it sounds) and fight through many stages over a non-linear world map with multiple paths. #retrogaming

Breakers' Revenge (1998) is a fantastic Neo Geo #fighting game, and...well, I forgot why I wanted to post about it, entirely. It's pretty good. One of the best Neo Geo games. Go play it, I guess. 😅 #retrogaming #neogeo

Sometimes I get cravings for the original #Diablo (1996) and an easy way to play it is on the #PS1. It's essentially mindless dungeon crawling when the desire for such exists. You can even play with a friend. There's something nostalgic about the simple but high quality gfx for the era. #retrogaming

Emerald Dragon for the PC Engine CD has finally been translated. The SNES port had already been, but this is apparently quite different. All of the elements of a great early '90s CD #jRPG are here: voice acting, animated scenes, and an interesting tactical battle system. So cool. #retrogaming

S.T.U.N. Runner (1989) was a pioneering sci-fi #arcade racer, with fully #polygonal graphics and a unique sit-down, motorcycle-like cabinet. A childhood fave. I was able to play it at my local Chuck E. Cheese as a kid, but the only home port was, bizarrely, to the Atari Lynx handheld. #retrogaming
