I do of course own Japanese dictionaries and could have looked it up at any time in the intervening years. But they’re all the way over there in the bookcase!

Turns out Swift Playgrounds won’t cut it for Joey, as they don’t support the usual auto-refactoring (why is that?!) or import packages (why would Joey need that for day 1?!) but it was easy enough to switch to a command line Swift app.

Welp, I just showed Joey how to set up an Xcode playground and do some basic Swift stuff, and Joey got me set up with PyCharm (ugh, so unmaclike, but BBEdit has no autocomplete) and some basic Python stuff. I guess we’re doing this! #AdventOfCode

I realise this probably makes no sense to most people. What I mean is I got responses about two of the bugs I’ve reported in macOS (well, one was an inconsistency between macOS and iOS, but I think macOS was at fault and they did ask me to retest it on a macOS beta.)

Wow, and I got the same kind of response about another one too! Two in one day!

They’re not as different as night and cheese, that’s for sure.

They still keep sending me ‘Your credit limit offer is ready to preview.’ emails though.
