In this region, each town usually sets up a nativity scene during Christmas. However, my town does something strange: it turns its nativity scene into a walkthrough attraction, with small replicas of monuments from the region.

Many years ago I used to participate in "viking" reenactment events. It was an interesting experience (with their good and bad parts), and because of that I have some interesting trinkets, like this handmade bronze replica Mjölnir (Thor's hammer) of one found in Rømersdal, Denmark.

In classical Athens, citizens used similar pottery fragments to vote on whether a member of society would be exiled. This is the origin of the term "ostracism."

To read it you have to understand that it is a T and O map (or Isidoran map) Africa and Eurasia are displayed in a circle, Asia on top, Europe on the left and Africa on the right. Jerusalem is at the centre of the map, marked by a cross. The Mediterranean sea is at roughly the middle of the map.

Talking about murals, in Hereford Cathedral (England) there is a mural with the largest medieval map of the world ever found. It is very similar to earlier mappa mundis, plus also adds classical myths, places and legends from the Bible, and creatures from medieval bestiaries. 🧵🔽

The Tower of London recently updated this year an exhibition dedicated to the medieval period of the castle, specially when it was the household of kings Henry III and Edward I.
And it includes this fantastic recreation of Edward I’s bedchamber, with is a nice representation of a castle's bedroom.

A little corner of my house. Some years ago I found an antique store that was selling both a phrenology head and a palmistry hand.
So I found myself in the dilemma of getting the racist head or the magic hand.
