"You look like you read romance when you actually read Junji Ito."

She/her.
I played #Hitman the other day to assassinate Slim Shady. They made the mom's spaghetti joke the theme of the level 😂 And of course, I went for the poison kill.

I only did the Arcade escalation (I always like to practice there first). And I couldn't find the key to the basement yet.

Day 12

No book made me cry. But the one that made me the saddest was #WitchcraftForWaywardGirls. Grady Hendrix based the book on the accounts of his real-life relatives who had been sent to maternity homes as pregnant teenagers, so it hit quite hard.

Obviously, the one l like the best is the hardcover that's not available. Or if it is, I'm not willing to pray the insane resell prices.

Is it silly of me to really go out of my way to avoid books with white covers?

Like, I really want to own Let the Right One In, but the cover options are really poor. I don't like white covers, but also trying to find something without the non-removable "now a movie!" stickers.

Day 11

Not sure which is unnecessary, but #TheHiddenBlade and #MyBeautifulEnemy by #SherryThomas did NOT work together. One is supposed to be the prequel, the other the main story, but going from 1 to 2 I was like who tf are these characters now??

Misery by Stephen King

I wanted to read it last winter, but never got to it. Now I'm determined.

Day 10

I guess #InMyDreamsIHoldAKnife ?

I don't really have THAT strong feelings about the book, but my reaction to the killer reveal was just "oh..ok." and not "wow, I never would've guessed!".

Day 9

Uhhh...

America, obviously. England, probably. Mexico. Scotland. China. Japan?

Day 8

I'm gonna make it easier for myself and name adaptations that are already being made/coming out: #VictorianPsycho and #SunriseOnTheReaping. I feel like the both could be a solid good time at the movies.

I'm watching #AllHerFault.

It's about a mother going to pick up her young son from a play date, but upon arrival she finds out he's been kidnapped. There are friends of the family, nannies, other parents and family members with secrets and everyone's a suspect.

Day 7

Again, I must point to #TheLastHouseOnNeedlessStreet by #CatrionaWard. There are crime elements, there are thriller elements, but mostly it is strange, creepy & mysterious. One of those books where going in blind is a must.

I'm watching this adaptation of Sense and Sensibility for the first time.
December 7, 2025 at 3:41 PM
Day 6

Obviously, the iconic love story of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice.

But also, the dramatic forbidden romance in Vampires of El Norte, the unexpected monster romance in The Haar, and the beautiful young love in Edenbrooke.

Day 5

I mean, has to be Olivia from #TheLastHouseOnNeedlessStreet. Yes, she's a cat. Snooty, reads the Bible, and is in love with a female tabby. If that makes you curious, read the book because I can't say much more.

Day 4

Favorite is a bit too soon to say, but new-to-me authors that I've read twice this year and want to read more from:

Isabel Cañas
Stephen Graham Jones
Nat Cassidy

Anything from Astrid Lindgren, really. My mom read all her books to us (including the more well-known Pippi Longstocking), but my favorite were the Bullerby Children stories. Funny, heartwarming and a good reflection of my own childhood spent playing outside.

This makes me irrationally angry.

In one of the historical romances that I read this year, (Friends and Foes by Sarah M. Eden) the female lead has a physical disability from an accident. And dealing with chronic pain is a big part of her arc.

Day 3

I don't think I tried any new genres. I'll say, I've read historical romance more than I expected. It's hard to find something that I really like, though. Isabel Cañas' work is the closest I've gotten (besides Jane Austen), since she leans into paranormal horror too.

Day 2

My top 5 of the year:

When the Wolf Comes Home
The Buffalo Hunter Hunter
The Last House on Needless Street
Pride and Prejudice
The Well of Ascension (Mistborn Book 2)

Day 1

I had a slow start to my reading year. Almost didn't read at all in January. But right before the end of the month, I decided to start a re-read of Pride and Prejudice. I highly enjoyed myself.

I mean, this edition of #AForgeryOfFate that I'm reading currently is pretty damn incredible.

The illustration is by one of my favorite book cover artists Tran Nguyen and the blue and gold theme is stunning.
