My god it's difficult to find good t-shirts.

Didn't think my requirements were that outlandish: short sleeves, slim fit, cotton or viscose with >= 6% elasthane, more colours than just black and white, seams that don't twist in first wash, available in Europe.

Surely that's not too weird?

Also I’m not even going to say “goals” cuz I’ve never been able to move like that in my life.

At this point, I think the entire publishing industry needs to have a serious conversation about the degree to which the last 15 years have increasingly seen book promo become an online venture, and what that means now that entire social media and digital platforms are getting torched overnight. 🧵
The WaPo cuts are devastating. And to cut the Books section entirely makes the already bleak critical landscape even more bare. This was all preventable but Bezos, who could find the post I perpetuity without noticing it, is hellbent on destroying the Post. And for what?

Friendly note for whoever built the registration system - if my "Display Name" needs to be unique, it's not a display name, it's an identifier. Don't do that. Maybe there's a course you could take? Anyway. Onward!

Lü Ye Qian He: The Wife Comes First vol. 1

I wish I could read Chinese so I'd know whether the register is as badly off in the original as it is in the translation.

Still, entertaining enough, as long as you don't pay too much attention to the asininity of the court intrigue. #2026reads

Tfw you're listening to music while you cook, so you need to peel the carrots in a rhythm that matches the music's.

Why did my new phone just wish me happy birthday?

I don't like living in the future.

Great article. Also great thread, even though I don't entirely agree with Hamilton.

Originally it was the Torne (the Finnish-Swedish version, not the English one). Photos: high noon in early winter and midnight in midsummer.

There's stiff competition, but the 1 tech enshittification emanation I dislike the most is, I think, the near-demise of paying once for something then owning it. Give me a piece of tech with onboard software, give me a game, give me an email client. Charge me once, give a couple of years of support.

You know what's done wonders for my cooking? Accepting that it's okay to take shortcuts. I didn't need to chop a single thing for today's lunch, yet I've got a pretty mean risotto with flavourful toppings.

Saturday morning tea: Shincha Haruno Yabukita 2025. Yet another advent calendar tea.

I don't usually drink shincha, so I expected to fuck up the brewing the first time, but actually it turned out really well.

-27°C is in no way fun. And yet, it's still 20 degrees warmer than the coldest weather I remember, so what am I even complaining about?

But fuck it's cold.

What I have learned from listening to #Ember&Ice is that I'd listen to Connor Storrie reading the nutritional information of ground beef if that's what he felt like recording.

Plenty of advent calendar teas left. This morning: Gopaldhara 1st Flush Wulong 2025 Yabukita. First Indian wulong I've ever tried.

Can we please make that a thing in Finland, too? The still summer evenings spent sitting outside would be so much easier if we had a better defence against the Finnish Air Force.
Just to demonstrate cultural differences, people thought this was some sort of alt sexy outfit. My babies, it is Canadian bug netting 😂

#HeatedRivalry breaking containment has certainly gifted us with takes of varying quality, from "fantastic" to "steaming piles of garbage". This one is closer to the latter than the former. (1/4)

This would also be so useful for the long-ass danmei series that aren't even consecutive individual novels but rather just one novel published in installments. Paging @sevenseasentertainment.com

Williams and Storrie are clearly listening and learning. This take is already so much more nuanced than their early ones. And even the early ones (that I've seen) weren't offensive, just a bit clueless. It's just really nice to see.

In an ocean of bad-faith Heated Rivalry takes full of specious arguments and cherrypicked facts, Salon has published one so rancid that I need to pick it apart.

Don't worry, I'm not female or a woman, so I love it the right amount and also I get to be as angry and as mean as I want 😌.
