It's me. Utah Jazz & NBA beat writer for The Salt Lake Tribune. Oh, and now I also write a data column once a week for the Trib
One of the wildest showcases of football I've ever seen in person. Not a whole lot of that game made any sense but the Utes do deserve significant credit for the way the continued to fight down 2 scores late.

Utes are being booed off the field by some fans at halftime, and its hard to say it's not deserved. You allowed 348 yards in the first half against a not particularly good K-State team. What happened?
November 22, 2025 at 10:56 PM
341 rushing yards in the first half, someone tell me if that's good or not
November 22, 2025 at 10:48 PM
Ideally it would be Utah's coaches and not the ref crew who would pull Dampier for medical review, but glad somebody did. (Also, giving Byrd a chance here is great for you for multiple reasons! Just do that!)
November 22, 2025 at 10:07 PM
Obviously, we don't know what happened yet, so that could be proven wrong. But man, it did not look promising.

When people talk about Rice Eccles' Stadium's turf causing injuries... what happened to John Henry Daley a few minutes ago is what they mean. In an ideal world where there's grass on this field, I don't think that's an injury.

Thunder beat the Jazz 144-112. Thunder are an incredibly good team that made 62% of threes tonight. However... the Jazz can't let go of the rope like that.
November 22, 2025 at 5:23 AM
Okay, the Thunder are very good and all, but you can't get outscored 114-62 over the course of 3 quarters.
November 22, 2025 at 5:17 AM
Well, the Jazz lost the 3rd quarter by 23 points, and now trail 110-88. Some SGA MVP-level plays... but a lot that has to frustrate Hardy and co., too. OTOH... wouldn't Taylor Hendricks be more useful out there than Cody? Or Clayton Jr.?
November 22, 2025 at 4:54 AM
Thunder/Jazz getting a bit salty... double techs on Collier/Mitchell, frustration foul on Filipowski after one wasn't called on him earlier.
November 22, 2025 at 4:47 AM
Jazz up 68-67 on the Thunder at the half... someone on the Thunder picked up a technical at the end of the half, but wasn't clear who.

Lauri Markkanen has 16 points on 5 FG attempts, SGA has 19 on 8 FGA.
November 22, 2025 at 4:14 AM
AJ Dybantsa in general has a harder time getting to the rim 1-on-1 than I expected early... can get cut off by defenders and then doesn't have the shake to slide past.

HOWEVER: when he is cut off, he's been great at just rising and firing and making, or finding an open guy
November 21, 2025 at 10:48 PM
Kyle Anderson and Taylor Hendricks have both been upgrade to available vs. the Lakers tonight.
November 19, 2025 at 2:05 AM
Kyle Filipowski was added to the injury report for tonight's game, will miss it due to a right wrist sprain.
November 19, 2025 at 1:01 AM
Even Klay in his GSW prime averaged 10-15 more dribbles per game while averaging 8-10 fewer points per game than Lauri is averaging now
like a 7 foot prime Klay Thompson?
November 17, 2025 at 8:18 PM
Lauri Markkanen dribbles the ball significantly less than any other top scorer in the NBA
November 17, 2025 at 8:01 PM
Vucevic's shot just misses, and Jazz win 150-147! Big celebrations for Keyonte George with his teammates after this one. Markkanen had 47. George had 34. Collier and Sensabaugh both had 16.
November 17, 2025 at 4:21 AM
Keyonte George hits a 3! Jazz up 150-147, 0.8 seconds left!
November 17, 2025 at 4:18 AM
Coby White sinks both FTs. So, tie game, Jazz ball, 8.4 seconds left to try to win.
November 17, 2025 at 4:17 AM
Alright, we're back here again: Bulls ball, down 2, 147-145. This time, 20.4 seconds left in 2OT.
November 17, 2025 at 4:14 AM
These last few Jazz offensive possessions have featured near-zero ball movement, they seem gassed.
November 17, 2025 at 4:11 AM
Reviewing this foul on Dosunmu for a landing spot flagrant... if it is, overtime could be tilted heavily in Utah's favor.
November 17, 2025 at 4:05 AM
Coby White game-tying layup! Double overtime!
November 17, 2025 at 3:58 AM
This has been very yackety saxy. It's now Bulls ball after a jump ball, 5.6 seconds left in overtime. Jazz up 136-134.
November 17, 2025 at 3:57 AM
What a wacky sequence there. George had the ball poked away, Collier recovered in backcourt, lost it, and then the Bulls threw away their chance to tie. Jazz ball again, up 2, 12.6 seconds left.
