It's me. Utah Jazz & NBA beat writer for The Salt Lake Tribune. Oh, and now I also write a data column once a week for the Trib
Jazz beat Kings, 126-119.

Keyonte George: 31/5/6, yet another very strong game from him. Talking to one of his heroes, Russell Westbrook, after the buzzer.
Lauri Markkanen: 28/6/2.
Brice Sensabaugh: 20 points.
Jusuf Nurkic: 9/11/9.
November 29, 2025 at 5:05 AM
Jusuf Nurkic triple double watch: he has 7 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists with 7:35 left.
November 29, 2025 at 4:38 AM
Ace Bailey will not return due to a right knee contusion, Jazz say.
November 29, 2025 at 4:24 AM
Jazz up 62-51 at the half. 7-0 Jazz run in the final minute off of some just insane-o play from the Kings. Markkanen has 17 points.

I have zero faith that the Jazz will end up below the Kings in the standings. They just look so morose... like, they're a veteran team but those veterans are Russ, DeMar, Zach Lavine... it's not great. Maybe it'll be fine when Sabonis comes back?
November 29, 2025 at 3:18 AM
The Kings' shot selection is so, so subpar. Just taking really difficult ones early in the shot clock when there's so much more time to get something better.

Some pregame reading for you...

I talked to Keyonte George about some of the improvements in his game this season — and what he did over the summer, or what he's changed in his approach, that has made him better.

The evolution of Keyonte George: Here’s what has changed for the Utah Jazz guard
What did Keyonte George do this offseason to improve so much? In his own words, here's why the Utah Jazz guard has improved his scoring, playmaking, and his relationship with Lauri Markkanen.

The problem is that we want the rewards to go to the football teams that win the games, the teams that step up to the biggest moments and come out victorious — which is not necessarily the same as those who employ the best football players! The stakes should matter.
November 26, 2025 at 9:23 PM
My biggest problem with the CFP Committee is how they've diminished the stakes of the rest of the season.

With both undefeated Florida State last year and BYU this year, they're de-emphasizing who actually wins the games in favor of trying to figure out who is best.

Jazz do succeed at holding the Warriors below 140, but lose 134-117.

Keyonte George: 28 points, 7 asts, remarkably, a +1.
November 25, 2025 at 5:16 AM
Jazz down 106-84 at the end of 3. Warriors have a 140 ORtg, Jazz at real risk of giving up 140 points or more in 4 of the last 5 games.
November 25, 2025 at 4:47 AM
Jazz down 67-55 at the half. Obvious charge there not called at halftime, but anyway.

Keyonte George has been terrific this last week, he has 21 points on 7-9 FG at halftime. Continuing to look like a real building block, if not more.
November 25, 2025 at 4:03 AM
Jazz are getting killed on the glass in these no center minutes... they only have one healthy center right now. The Nurkic minutes were a -19 too though so it's not like that was an effective look either.

I am so, so, so happy to announce that the Salt Lake News Guild and The Salt Lake Tribune have ratified the first union contract in the paper's history today.

This was the major project of my 2025. It's been an incredible experience.

Will Hardy said he tried to call timeout before Keyonte shot the ball, but refs didn't hear him.
November 24, 2025 at 3:43 AM
Marcus Smart looked to have hold of George's arm, with no whistle. Refs also typically allow for a lot of holding in those situations.
November 24, 2025 at 3:28 AM
Keyonte George down to the floor, but no foul is called. It blows oup the SLOB play, and George misses the super contested three after.

Hardy is furious, confronts the refs on the floor. Nurkic does too. Lakers beat Jazz 108-106.
November 24, 2025 at 3:27 AM
Luka goes 1-2. Jazz have the chance to tie or take the lead.
November 24, 2025 at 3:24 AM
Wow! Lauri Markkanen hits a three to get the Jazz within one, but doesn't make the stepback against LeBron to take the lead. Luka to the line, Lakers up 1, 5.8 seconds left.
November 24, 2025 at 3:23 AM
what a steal by Ace Bailey on Luka Doncic one-on-one! Jazz down just 4 now.
November 24, 2025 at 3:21 AM
Lauri Markkanen struggling so far today, just 8 points on 4-12 FG with a TO.
November 24, 2025 at 2:54 AM
terrrrriiifffic defensive read from Filipowski there, knowing Luka would throw the lob
November 24, 2025 at 2:42 AM
Jazz start the 3Q on a 17-6 run, take a 72-68 lead. Ace Bailey's putback dunk the highlight play — crashing the glass continues to be a + for him
November 24, 2025 at 2:29 AM
A final play that sums up that half: it was sloppy, goofy, with a lot of poorly executed transition and lazy play from both sides. In the end, Lakers lead Jazz 62-55.

Luka Doncic has been pretty good and trying his whole back of tricks, Keyonte George leads Jazz in scoring.
