Cleminson Street, Salford. Salford pioneered play streets, traffic-free from 8am till sunset (borrowed from New York) in the 1930s. Legislation followed: there were 700 in England and Wales in the 1950s, all but forgotten by the 1980s.

Wow I never thought we would be approaching WW III against Russia and USA. History repeating itself. Wasn't WW II possible due to weak leadership allowing Hitler invade other countries, sending envoys trying to appease him? Will king Charles and William be detained on their visit?

The other night I dropped off a parcel for Evri pick up at my local garage. When I left there was a guy who parked his van across the forecourt exit so he could be near a cash machine. There was a queue of cars waiting to get out.
I just stopped and stared at the idiot.
He saw me and asked me..

Labour has a groundbreaking plan for child poverty. Finally, this government has found its mission | Polly Toynbee
The new strategy lays out Britain’s social disgrace in painful detail. But it also offers hope and a clear way forward that is worthy of a leftwing party, says Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee

Last Tuesday I came off my bike on an icy road. My rhs slammed down pretty hard. Really winded me and could tell I was pretty banged up. Yes I checked my bike. Took me a minute to get back on and finish my commute. By the end of the day I was struggling to walk and ribs felt very delicate. 1/n

Agree this movie is very good and have watched it multiple times. I would say the movie I absolutely love though is The Red Shoes. Amazing.

I am in Leicester today so took the opportunity to look for some clothes etc . Jeez the paucity of offerings other than bland for men is depressing. Okay, I currently have a pink mohican but I do like a good 3 piece suit. I was looking for a decent tweed waistcoat to wear with my kilt. Boots too

My wife and I went for a walk this morning through the fields and orchard surrounding the village. Beautiful morning, light, cool breeze, and very warm sunshine. My wife likes to cut dried grasses to arrange in a pot at home. We saw a white-tailed deer bounding away. Birds chirping away. 1/n

Further evidence that the UK, or at least some of the people are less tolerant, disrespectful and just plain selfish and than ever.
They'd not like it if it happened to their family's funeral.
A few seconds of respect. That's all.

Govts tinker with poverty. Push real wage/benefit cuts, don't curb profiteering, appease the rich, destroy futures.

I have type 1 diabetes. In the UK I have to reapply for my driving licence every 3 years. I have to provide quite a bit of information, by post. My GP is legally bound to also inform DVLA if they believe my diabetes control isn't sufficient. 'healthy' people have no checks besides the initial test.
