Wife: You need to get out of the house.
Me: [gets out of the house into a hellish landscape ruined by millions of cars ruled by a corporatocracy of robber barons] "Yup. All better now."

The grocery I started going to after the grocery nearest me started having armed guards check receipts now has an armed guard at the entrance who is dressed like he's about to go to very serious video game war in an entirely colorless universe.

The number of incredibly stupid laws the OG manages to cram into the last few days of business really is sort of an amazing accomplishment.

My dog is having a full on emotional meltdown because I'm not taking her to the dog park while:
1. It is still dark, and 30 mins before she usual goes.
2. Pouring rain.
3. She refuses to go out the door because item #2 is my fault.

Turkey is not a beginner protein. It's it's got a unique flavor but the difference between cooked and cardboarded is narrower than Uncle Bob's worldview.
the “thanksgiving food is bad” discourse raises its ugly head every year, but the truth remains that thanksgiving food can be amazing as long as you know how to cook. the problem is we’re throwing a few million sunday drivers directly into a grand prix
I think this is unfair to turkey. turkey is good but hard to cook well because it is so damn big. turkey *parts* are great but lack the esthetic appeal of a centerpiece bird.

it is tired to the point of cliche to say if turkey was good, people would make it more than once a year. but it is understated that at least one American explodes every Thanksgiving in a brave attempt to make the main dish more palatable

An extra big fuck you to the ass in the intentionally loud car who just raced up our street at 100mph and scared the shit out of my dog.

Sad to hear Mark Mellman has died. We grew up in the same neighborhood, and I got to work with him on a race in '06 (largely because our candidate also grew up in that same neighborhood.). He was kind and unbelievably smart. May his memory be a blessing.

Rode up the re-opened front st for the first time today. That freeway exit that unloads directly into a pedestrian havy area around the brewery district and the courts is terrifying. If there's a green light, they'll come right off the freeway at speed. Someone is gonna get hurt there.

The thing about this that I find funniest is that someone had to have either explicitly trained that into the underlying models, filled RAG instances with it, with or straight up written preo-elon sycophancy into the interface code.

There's like a 70% chance that someone was him.

when you base 100% of your transportation system on cars and highways, a little fog can shutdown 1/2 the city.

Five corporations control 90% of the US media market.

Airlines merged from 12 major carriers in 1980 to 4 today.

Four giants control 80% of meat processing.

A handful of companies control the pharmaceutical industry.

The evidence of corporate concentration is everywhere.

McDonalds Impact sounds like something a GI doc writes in your colonoscopy report.
Trump is ranting barely coherently to McDonald's franchise owners: "The one pilot said, 'skedaddle!' And that thing just turned on its side -- pppph. And it's so unbelievable. And that knocked out Iran nuclear capability."
