You boys in the back row definitely look like the rhythm section keeping everything tight while the three up front go nuts on synth, maracas, and keytar.

Thoroughly enjoyed the fact that there were precisely zero minutes of sunshine today, it really lifted my mood and gave me a sense of enormous well-being.

Grad students are the non-Newtonian fluid of academia: workers or students, depending on which is most convenient to the institution at any given time

Sounds perfect, I’ve just ordered it from a small Irish bookseller, thank you!

Deal! Happy to go with the last book that really stayed with you

I like your reading. Particularly as the pedantic killjoy in me refuses to believe that the vast majority of the audience at a Derrida talk wouldn’t know, or figure out very quickly, that chaos in French is pronounced ‘couse’.

So good! Out of curiosity, what gig were you at last night? There were a couple of fellas walking out ahead of us and one was saying that tonight was great but last night was the gig of his life. Didn’t catch what it was, though, and the curiosity is killing me

Thanks! A postdoc fellowship to convert it into a monograph is the plan, but these things are fiercely competitive. I’ll publish it one way or another, though

Aside from being frozen to my soul, we were stuck ahead of a very loud fella who didn’t shut the fuck up name-dropping for 75 minutes. I wanted to leave but my mates Deego from the Fontaines and Guggi persuaded me to stay because Troy was already in there with scoops for us.

I’d say they will, but the sound at the 3Arena will probably be pretty carefully monitored for decibel levels and I can’t see it being as loud as the gig on Wednesday. Every pharmacy sells earplugs, in case you want to pick up your own as a precaution.
