Chicagoan Urbanist trying to improve the Salt Lake suburbs one bike lane or bus route at the time. Village of Addison and the CTA Purple Line's biggest critic.
My current route has me taking the Crosstown Trail to the Parley's Trail then up 300 West. Without 300 West, I now have to bike up to 300 North to have a grade separated protected bikeway across the tracks, adding 3 miles onto my trip.

Now it's an argument of no takesies backsies.

And if you are going to spend a bunch of money on it, make it a service that can stand on its own. We have enough routes to get you in and out of Chicago, but very few to get around it. These routes, like I-90, are also tolled, giving drivers even more reason to find alts.

Pace is out doing studies for Express Buses on the I-290 and I-88 Corridors that are largely redundant to service provided by both Metra and themselves. I'd much prefer if these resources went into a circumferential route along the I-355 corridor, especially with how much their plans cater to DuPage
January 24, 2026 at 5:35 AM
The main use case for me is actually having a bus service actually go across the northern DuPage County border and not just turn back into Cook County. But there are much better ways to solve this issue that don't include spending $100+ Million on it, like both of the Revision Plus 50 concepts.

As someone who has used the I-90 Express buses both for commuting and for leisure, this feels like a massive downgrade, both in utility and use case. It is going still be 2-4 times the travel time to drive and is redundant to parallel Metra Lines and Pace's own proposed ART lines.

Construction costs will be $1.5M for the I-88 branch as it will only have one new stop at 5th Ave while I-290 will be $112.5M with all the other stops including all 3 In-Line ones with operations being $4.5M and $6.5M annually respectively. Travel times of 45-60 min assumedly respectively.

The current squabble over a casino probably isn't helping the situation.

Are we counting on it before or after the FLIRT's enter service?

Don't expect station buildings to be open any more than they are on a normal day. If you have to wait at a station with a closed depot, make use of nearby public buildings if possible.

It sounds like he was walking back from the hospital and was trying to cross the street where the crosswalk used to be. Removing the crosswalk doesn't stop people from trying cross.

Alongside what was already discussed, the UTA also plans to recycle plastic waste bins into new ones for station areas and provide all UTA employees with a year's membership of GreenBike bikeshare to better emphasized multimodal transportation.

UTA plans to further reduce green house gas emissions both from tail pipe and energy production alongside reducing energy demands of station and parking lots. It would be great if they separated between the large water use of Park-N-Ride and downtown stations.
