I’d like to add that my friends with kids would never say this to me, and that’s why they’re my friends.

I’d also like to add that despite being child free, I do actually like children, and I have huge respect for the hard job of parenting. I just wish it went both ways.

I really hate the way it’s normalised for parents to talk down to people without children, when it would (again, rightfully) never be ok the other way around.

The reality is that neither group can truly grasp the experience of the other. That doesn’t make either path more or less meaningful.

I’m sure it’s a lesson I should have learned much earlier but it’s been so good to find a middle ground and to find something nourishing in the space between “all” and “nothing”.

Every time I went to the gym I was getting injured. Every time I had a night out I was getting sick.

This week I’ve dropped the weights, swapped big nights out for quiet dinners and coffees, and listened to my body when it said it was tired. And my god what a difference.
