This is excellent.

"The South Australian premier, Peter Malinauskas, would do well to read up on McCarthyism’s appalling moment in history because he and his whispering cadre of Israel lobbyists have become Australia’s new destructive, unapologetic McCarthyites."

The dark arts - The Shot
The ideology of the Israel lobby in Australia is this - burn it to the ground rather than ever allow an opposing voice.

Welp, the Chaser's article on the Adelaide Writer's Week, calling it the Adelaide Writer's Afternoon, has infiltrated the Edge AI summary. 'Hilariously', the AI summary combines the parody article with real news, so it could very easily trick people not in the know.

Hmmm. I wonder if I should approve this comment on my 2022 blog post in which I shared photos of the baking I'd done over the weekend? 🙄😆

"So a political decision. Made for political reasons that will once again see others pay the price. The arts have always been a contested space and, much like the media space before it, are being narrowed into a monoculture of centrism and approved views. "

Great post by Cory Doctorow on the reason why virtually all first year college kids use AI in their writing.

my 75yo mother told me last night that she’s planning to delete Instagram and Facebook because she’s sick of not being able to tell what’s AI and what’s not, and I genuinely don’t think tech companies have reckoned with this kind of move as an actual possibility

First the app was called Microsoft Office, then it was renamed to Microsoft Office 365, then just Microsoft 365, and now it's called Microsoft 365 Copilot. *sigh*

Happy new year! It's just past 11am in Melbourne and I've already received my first #scam text message of 2026. *sigh*

(I'm also slightly insulted that it's such a basic scam attempt.)

Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

Statues above the entrance of the Former AMP Building in #Melbourne.

The plaque reads, "Amicus certus in re incerta cernitur" (a true friend is discovered in times of uncertainty) which is funny, given the crap AMP was found to be doing by the 2018 Royal Commission.

What are your go-to neutral-ish sans serif fonts that *aren't* just clones of Helvetica? These eight are my favourites. I made a whole video about them and everything (with a tl;dr at the beginning).
