When my boss at work says, 'this will be great visibility for you.'

I don't want to be visible. I want to live in a cottage in the woods. I want to exchange my corporate jargon, target dates, and executive reports for a flower garden, an old quilt, and a very good book.

I know it’s been a while (sorry) and it’s not even great light to show you, but I’ve just finished my first embroidery of 2026. 😊 I hope it was with the wait and that you enjoy!🪡🌿🦉✨

ADHD diagnosis & meds has been such a life-changer for me. I used to spend every night after work intellectually comotose, only able to play games or watch TV.

Now, even on rough days, I can take supplementary meds and I'm back in business.

D&D prep & writing, here I come! ✨🐲✍️🏰

Watched all 3 LOTR movies on Saturday; saw into space-time and understood the secrets of things that were, things that are, and things that have not yet come to pass.

Then I came home and bought Aragorn's crown on Ebay.

On Saturday, I watched the Lord of the Rings extended edition in theaters, all 13 hours. Loved.

Today I read Humphrey Carpenter's excellent Tolkien biography.

I want to make embroidered silk banners for Elendil, Rohan, Rivendell, and Lothlorien to hang in my house.

I have embraced my intensity ✨

Bridgerton Season 4 is the best yet. Using the Pride & Prejudice formula to great effect. I was waiting for the botched 'first proposal' when I smelled the homage and was NOT disappointed. Cinema

Is it historically accurate enough? No
Is it still too horny for Regency fans? Yes
Is it fantastic? YES

I had an encouraging experience writing yesterday. I was very tired after work; fell asleep for 2 hrs on the couch. When I woke, blurry-eyed and cotton-mouthed, it was very late. Writing felt impossible.

But I managed to do it anyway & I'm actually thrilled with what I wrote.

My retirement plan says 5 more years in this high pressure job, then I can downshift to something easier.

But sometimes I wonder if my mental health can survive 5 more years in the corporate world...

2026 favorite reads 🧵

Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb.
This is the first time since the early 2000s that I have found a new epic fantasy series to love.

Half of this thread would become books from the series if I posted them all, so let this post stand for all of Realm of the Elderlings.

I went out for a birthday dinner for one of my elderly neighbors and had the best tirimisu I've ever had in my life. (Tirimisu is my favorite cake.

They also had morels!! I know where I'm going for my next birthday...

Best route to become human again after work:

Option A: Nap
Option B: (as-needed & prescribed) ADHD wake-me-up meds

Ages ago, I bought a pre-order of Wood at Midwinter by Susanna Clarke from Waterstone's. She is my favorite modern fantasy author.

I just cracked it open for the first time & realized the edition I bought is signed by the author!! What a lovely surprise🥲

2016 vs today trend!

2016 was a time of my life where I did not exist. Hundreds of photos of sewing work & my ex-husband, three of me. This is the ONLY one of just me.

Everything in the pic belonged to him. I was truly invisible in that house.

I'm much, much happier in 2026 <3 (second pic)

It's very rare that I find a recipe I like enough to add into my main rotation. Has to be full of flavor, healthy, protein-forward, and vegetarian. (Also easy to make or meal-preppable - this is the latter.) #reciperec

LOOOVE this recipe! Big recommend. www.nonguiltypleasures.com/red-lentil-s...

I thought I was becoming a necromancer this game, but instead I want to follow the Old Ways and maybe become an aspect of owl druid.

I love LARP

Despite fantasy being my favorite genre, I don't often find new fantasy books that I love. Tolkien, Robert Jordan, Shannara, and not much more. I am halfway through the first Farseer book, Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb, and am LOVING IT.

Excited for the journey ahead!

Alan Cumming deserves better than the coffin and silver costumes they gave him on The Traitors. His fashion is usually the best part of the show.

AC in silver spandex? Girl. The real traitor is your costume designer.

Just bought my movie ticket for Hamnet and was surprised to see I am only the only seat in the theater. Tragic.

The industry finally made a good movie. Let's support it!

I've been doing laundry for decades, but somehow I forgot that you're supposed to change the lint filter. It's been taking 2 or 3 cycles to get everything dry.

Today I remembered to change the filter for the first time in a year or so. Look at that, everything is dry the first cycle 🥲

Ever think about how we call single men 'bachelors' but single women 'spinsters'

I'm enjoying the spinster life in my spinster pad

Inspired by @hautepotato.bsky.social, a thread with my fav reads from 2025.

#1 - Slow Productivity by Cal Newport. As a fantasy writer, I did not expect nonfiction to top my chart, but it spoke to my burned-out-from-corporate-tech heart.

Strategies to make demanding work environments sustainable.

It's interesting how our perceptions of the holidays change over time. I used to look forward to the gifts and games.

Now I look forward to the two weeks off of work to actually enjoy my own life

Vacation Courtney wrote a bunch of checks that working Courtney can't cash. These will join the unread book piles all over my house 🥲

I think I ordered about eight books. This is just what arrived today...
