Who knew that the lyricism of car mechanics could so perfectly reflect grief and the longing to belong? Beautifully written novel in verse. I couldn't put this one down.

I may not finish an entire novel in the month of November, but I've written 10,000 words of my new MG project. I think that calls for a celebratory slice of cherry pie.

Such a sweet early middle-grade novel! Will definitely read this one again and again.

Bad Badger: A Love Story by Maryrose Wood.

I always find helpful articles in Poets & Writers but also wish there was a print magazine devoted solely to #kidlit writers. Maybe someday...

The Girl and the Robot has one of the most powerful and gut-wrenching opening chapters I've read in MG in a while. Love the family dynamics and strong sense of community. And of course, the robots! 🤖

There's nothing better than a London Fog and a good book on a crisp fall day. Now I just need the book! 🫖

I just discovered the very sweet Bear and Bird series by Jarvis. It reminds me of Elephant and Piggie but for more advanced early readers. Beautiful illustrations too!

Yet again I was transported to my childhood during a visit to Goodwill. So many Beverly Cleary titles! Which was your favorite?

I was super excited to find this book waiting for me on the holds shelf! Favorite quote so far: "I can't give you privilege, opportunity, or experience. I can't give you status or power. But I can give you knowledge and encouragement." ❤️

Hoping the kiddos will enjoy watching Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit while making their own clay creations. A little spookiness to kick off the season! 🐰 🎃

Sounds like a good read. I've found some real gems at thrift stores including this one by Isaac Asimov and his wife from 1980.

Thank you, @kaitlynleann17.bsky.social and @lydialukidis.bsky.social for hosting the 2025 #FallWritingFrenzy! My story was more somber than I anticipated but I think it's the story I needed to write today. ❤️

I'm noticing MG horse stories are making a comeback. Or maybe they never left? 🐎 📚

I've heard great things about this book. But I have to admit, it was the cat on the cover that drew me in. 😂

In reading Donald Maass's "The Emotional Craft of Fiction," this line stuck with me: "The most useful question is not 'how can I get across what characters are going through?' The better question is 'how can I get readers to go on an emotional journey of their own?'" 📚

A little-known fact about librarians - some of us don't have much time to actually read! That's why I was excited to join my library's new book discussion group for library staff. I've heard great things about our current read: Adam Grant's "Think Again." 📚

Finding this at my local Goodwill was a blast from the past! At one time, I think I owned every Babysitter Club and Sweet Valley Twins book ever written! Love to see them coming back in graphic novel format for a new generation to enjoy. 📚

No, I haven't been BOTG yet, but I have spent hours pouring over this book and wondering where the treasure could be hidden. Any other armchair treasure hunters out there? ✨️ 📚

One of the best parts of being a librarian is browsing the new cart and finding a treasure like this middle-grade verse novel by Chris Baron. 📚
