#SentimentalValue is a haunting drama centered around generational trauma & how art can be used as healing. Like Hamnet but better.

Yes...how dare a sitting US Senator appear on national television and rally the country around that idea...
senators will go on late night talk shows instead of demand the impeachment of a president that literally called for their execution
What a week and it’s only Tuesday. See me on Jimmy Kimmel tonight to talk all about it.

#Zootopia2 is an enjoyable enough sequel to the Animal Kingdom-centric franchise. A few funny throwaway jokes but nothing special. The mediocrity of major releases continues...

How's this for a Thanksgiving Wednesday double feature?

I made my high school friends watch Almost Famous the Labor Day weekend of our freshman year of college. I was not allowed to choose what we watched again.
What a movie you recommend to people with enthusiasm but find that few people you recommend it to like it as much as you do?

Me: Probably Prometheus, which has its fans but is objectively, fundamentally flawed. Also Pandorum.

(My non-genre tastes are very conventional.)

Not only is this remake completely unnecessary but the title's play on words is super dated in more ways than one.

Being a smart person with critical thinking skills & curiosity about the world f*cking sucks.

As I love to say: Ignorance is not bliss...it is euphoria.

A great piece about John Hughes' best movie (and it's not even close).

Burt Reynolds was offered Garrett Breedlove in Terms of Endearment. He turned it down to do Stroker Ace.

Not much to say about Trans Day of Remembrance anymore besides “try loving and celebrating us while we are alive”

I'm going to say something that's going piss off 120% of my followers.

Two things can be true:

1. We need to have an honest conversation about trans women (and trans men) in sports.

2. RW Grifters like G*ines are horrible people who will make that talk impossible.
I’ve spent a lot of the last three years investigating the rise of anti-trans politics. Often, it came back to the controversy over trans women athletes.

So I teamed up with @pablo.show to look into the leading figure on the issue: Riley Gaines.

How right-wing superstar Riley Gaines built an anti-trans empire
The swimmer tied a trans woman for fifth. The MAGA industrial complex took care of the rest.

This is cool.
50 years ago today, this photo of the Chicago press conference for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest was taken.

In the background you can see Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert — in the clothes they wore in the Siskel & Ebert pilot, which was also shot that same day.
