My wife and I are on our own for the holiday so it is Baking Day. It’s therapeutic, passes the time, and gives me things to offer as gifts along the way on our trip to see various family members post Christmas.

It's no accident that folks who watched their college peers push for The Civil Rights Act, protest the Vietnam War, push against apartheid, support BLM and diversity are the same folks loudly dismantling every aspect of higher education they can. Devastating news about Brown today and my thoughts are with all involved. This is horrible, heartbreaking, and infuriating as well.
As graduate student instructors we have to think about these things as well, though no one really talks to you about it as you begin teaching. That should change.
