All I really advise is just not using Spotify...the other services have issues too, but they're nothing compared with Spotify's distinctive form of evil. There's no perfect one, however. And if someone's album really impresses you or they seem to need support, see if it can be purchased on Bandcamp.

Well, I'd have to check that out the next time I log in to CD Baby to compare. I don't get a lot of streams overall, of course. I get more money from YouTube than anywhere else, and it pays terribly, so that's just from sheer volume. Pandora is also very low per stream.

I release music and see tiny royalties come in from Qobuz, Tidal, Apple, Deezer, etc. But I no longer get any from Spotify at all because they have ensured that smaller artists are basically giving Spotify and its users music for free. So anything we might choose to use as a consumer is better!

Tidal's the same. Spotify works better, unfortunately. But I stick with Tidal for the reasons you mention.

I've gotten about a thousand of those. Maybe more than a thousand! I get 'em several times a day at two email accounts. Most irritating. I hope no one's desperate enough to fall for it.

It sometimes feels like literally no Canadians follow my Bluesky account. I think I'll focus on commenting on Belgian politics and economics from now on, see if that works better.
