I appreciate for what it is but it only works if IX built off of it. And since it didn't, VIII's just an entertaining film with fun ideas that were quickly retconned.

Completely agree. They should've let Abrams finish the whole trilogy. Or they should have just gone with Trevorrow's original script for IX, which while not perfect, is miles ahead of RoS.

IX is an unwatchable mess of fan-service garbage. At least the original trilogy had ethos.

We're on different timelines: I'm 40 and started transitioning this year, they're 25 and started as a teen. But they're a great person to talk to; we swap advice from our respective experiences, trans for them, life for me.
