After years of stagnating art skills I’ve had enough so here I show how I try to improve-
I’m always open to advice!
I’ll probably do a little Rendering on this for tomorrow

This would be a tiny bit more OC lore of mine ^^

I also painted the backside and- while it’s nothing special stylistically speaking- it’s very special to me so I’ll keep it to myself until I get the finished piece ^^

Of course I still have a few issues with the close recreation like saturation-application but I’ll see if I can improve that in future paintings

…I try to follow it as closely as possible and then compare the two.

One big thing I noticed is that I chose to darken the background closer to the sun in the intuitive take… uhh. Yea.
I also went for more yellowish tones in spite of a sundowns famously red colors.
Just a few things I noticed (2/2)

I get the feeling I really won’t get very far without studying from real life references so I think I’ll get to doing that sooner rather than later

I also had a little section I particularly liked- that being the top of the head where there’s a slight gradient as opposed to a sharp cutoff when transitioning to the background which makes it look like it’s glowing. I also tried to imitate it by the hands but to less success unfortunately.

You know what it’s a start ^^

In hindsight I do believe I could’ve applied yesterday’s „foreground = warm and background = cool“ concept here but I guess I’ll try that in the next painting where the opportunity presents itself.
