Investigate and prosecute political opponents, sell pardons to your rich friends so they can commit crimes with impunity. Authoritarianism isn’t coming, it’s here, whether people realize it or not.

I genuinely don't understood how America took the emoluments clause -- the common-sense bar on a president using his powers to line his own pockets, a law children can understand -- and just said, nah, that doesn't apply for our Very Special Boy.

DOJ is out of control. The crime of impeding federal agents requires physical force. Speaking out against the way ICE is being deployed is not a crime.

Holy hell. DHS just openly stated that its agents use “reasonable suspicion” to make ARRESTS. This is blatantly unconstitutional. The Supreme Court is clear that you need probable cause to arrest someone, as opposed to stop them to ask them a question or two. This is huge b/c…

Days after meeting with the DOJ, Ghislaine Maxwell has been transferred to a less restrictive minimum security federal prison camp in Texas.

According to the Bureau of Prisons, the type of facility to which Maxwell has been moved has “dormitory housing, a relatively low staff-to-inmate ratio, and limited or no perimeter fencing."

EXCLUSIVE: Someone Waived Ghislaine Maxwell's Sex Offender Status to Move Her to a Minimum Security Camp in Texas
According to sources, you can't move someone with a Public Safety Factor (PSF) designation - which Maxwell had - without waiving it. That's what happened here.

Prof Skocpol making a crucial point here. The centralized police. And then the lawless quasipolice who guard the camps. Trump’s death bill moves the US towards those two thresholds, well known from Germany in the 1930s.
