📱Feature-level cues only studied for digital media

🎮 Interaction-level cues only studied for gaming (but e.g., not social media)

🎞️ Content-level cues studied most often

(1) Structure of the field:

📍Research centered in the US & Germany

📍Computer science most prominent so far, followed by information science & communication science

📍19% of studies with an industry partner

📍Mostly exploratory methods
📍Focus on information search & gaming media

Disengagement = users stop a media use activity in a given situation.
Whereas internal (psycho-physiological) & external context cues (e.g., temporal, spatial) have been theoretically organized, #media cues remain to be systematized.
➡️ We conducted a systematic review of 27 studies & 90 media cues.
