For #Redtuesday I'm offering The Red Lodge Museum in #Bristol It was first built in the late #Tudor period around 1580, with later additions in the 1730s & early 19th century. The #museum is free to visit, run by Bristol City Council, and displays artworks listed on the Art UK website. #History

For #BridgesThursday here's a photo I took only last week of the #Clifton Suspension Bridge that spans the Avon Gorge in #Bristol It has been a toll bridge, the income provides funds for its maintenance. It was finished 5 years after it's designer, Isambard Kingdom #Brunel died #Bridge #Victorian

Walking in #Clifton, #Bristol I spotted these unusual carved figures on a Grade II listed house built around 1820, St Vincent's Priory. In the 1960s it was owned by artist George Melhuish, briefly opened to the public & later offered to Bristol City Art Gallery, who declined. #SundayStonework #Walks

#HenriettaLacks died in 1951 aged 31. Cells taken without consent became #HeLa, transforming #medicine. Her family learned the truth in 1975. Unveiled in #Bristol in 2021, this is the UK’s first public sculpture of a Black woman by a Black woman. #SculptureSaturday #SaturdayStatue #BlackHistory

St Peter, Great, #Walsingham in #Norfolk has an original font with a boldly painted, probably #Jacobean canopy. Built about 650 years ago, the #church still hangs its original three bells, among the oldest complete sets by one founder in #England. #FontsOnFriday

Albert Edward Hudson died when HMS Exmouth was torpedoed on 20th Jan 1940, escorting the Cyprian Prince, from Aberdeen to the Royal Navy’s wartime base at Scapa Flow in Orkney.
He was Engine Room Artificer aged only 23. Last year, divers raised a #WhiteEnsign #RoyalNavy #WednesdayWrecks #History

Here are a few photos from my recent trip to the haunted Jamaica Inn situated on #Bodmin Moor in #Cornwall. Very atmospheric & a lovely place to visit with loads of #history. Daphne du Maurier stayed there for a few nights and then wrote the classic book of the same name. #WindowsWednesday #Museum

Bristolian, Francis Eaton died in 1633 in #Plymouth Colony. He sailed on the #Mayflower in 1620 with his wife & son, & signed the Mayflower Compact. His life, before and after the voyage, tells a vivid story of resilience. Link in the comments

Took some photos of last night's Cold Moon, the last #Supermoon of 2025. This only happens when a full #Moon coincides with the Moon’s closest approach to #Earth in its elliptical orbit, a point known as #perigee. The next full Moon, on 3 January 2026 is the #WolfMoon & will be yet another supermoon

The "tower" at #Bristol Temple Meads is a clock tower, part of the station’s Gothic frontage designed by Matthew Digby Wyatt and Henry Lloyd between 1871 and 1878. I'm not sure if it's got #Christmas lights in this photo, but it looks incredible
