always remember: Terry Pratchett said trans rights

this book was written in 1996 by a 48 year old British man and no cis person in 2025 has a single goddamn excuse to behave differently

It is very frustrating to know that Reps definitely just want you to be under their boot, and Dems say they're for you, but jeez with the infighting and "oh this candidate seems really popular but too far left for us, we must fight them and shoot ourselves in the leg.". Very aaaaa

Like a political Bystander Effect.

I think technically we have already hit the breaking point, but it's kept so well hidden and out of reach through illusions of gesture, and grabbing people constantly by the wallet and holding the fear of homelessness over them. People want to make a move, but don't want to be the first to do it.

It's hard to find the bandwidth anywhere. Opposition in your state is definitely probably much higher, but even in 'blue' states you feel the apathy and opposition. Our local downtown has had weekly Friday afternoon sign waving down main street for several months now. It's small but feels good

Sometimes it feels like we are slowly creeping towards that.

*Gestures vaguely about*

I hate to say it like kind of miss the very first landlord we had, she actually tried to do monthly get togethers for everyone in the building so we would all get to know each other and know her and she would try to do little things for the community.

We've talked about that too, let the building should be mutually owned by the residents and not some far away faceless multiproperty company.

That's the hard part too is getting everyone all at once to agree to go on a rent strike and to get support.

really the only way out of this death spiral of rent is for everyone to agree at once that it is fucked so hard that even the police put up with people doing a rent strike.

And I feel like property managers going to apps has made it harder to actually get help and talk to anybody. There's never anyone in the office, they always just want you to get on the app and write a request

Punchability should absolutely be a factor. I've also noticed that the building we live in has sold property owners every year since we have moved here, we get an office lady for maybe a year, they sell to a different company, then we have to download a new app to pay rent and do laundry and stuff.
