The reason I like Rust is that it attempts to provide bare-metal C performance with the ability to write code that’s safer by default, as opposed to C++ which requires a greater investment, along with the dev infrastructure that is, in my opinion, even better than Python’s.

Right and Rust recognizes that sometimes you have to write unsafe code and even provide a keyword for that.

Read an article recently where Google started introducing more and more Rust into Android and found a significant decrease in the number of memory errors - non-zero but less.
