The BBC really chose a good moment to censor the Reith lecture about Trump’s corruption. Swiss bosses tried to sweeten him for a better trade deal with gifts of a Rolex clock and a gold bar.

Excellent obituary of Jack Shepherd by Michael Coveney. What a career! I wish I’d seen him playing Dracula in his own adaptation. I like this: ‘Like Bill Nighy, he was not really an Elizabethan hose and ruff sort of performer.’

Of course the climax of BB is prophetic: the Left fail to stop neoliberalism, but at least they create a new radical cabaret format that will dominate Channel 4.

Credit to the Torygraph for this detailed obituary of the great Jack Shepherd, radical actor, playwright, and director. I’ll remember him especially as Bill Brand and Antonio Gramsci, as well as for In Lambeth, his play about Tom Paine & William Blake, with Bob Peck as Paine.

The authors of this article hate Irish neutrality so much that it takes them quite a time to utter the name - Catherine Connolly - of Ireland’s new antiwar president. Their fuming, alongside assorted defence wonks, at Ireland’s failure to toe the NATO line is quite funny.

A very nice obituary of Jørn Andersen of the International Socialists Denmark by his friend and comrade Charlie Lywood. From the Easter strikes of 1985 to the movement against the Iraq War & the 2009 protests against COP15 in Copenhagen, Jørn was there. Hamba kahle!

Confusion prevails but I suspect this is the bottom line: ‘“No, not my final,” he [Trump] said. Asked what would happen if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy refused to sign the agreement he said, “he can continue to fight his little heart out”.’
