Kind of a dev
I mostly post about random old stuff I restore or just repair, such as mechanical cameras, typewriters, audio equipment, or computers. Usually going through phases, currently: Cameras
I also read a lot.

Also just realized that I'm literally restoring a very nice rangefinder right now and its sooooo wasted on me but hey, I never claimed to be a good photographer, just a good camera repair dude 👀

I blame it on the miniscule little viewfinder of the Revue 400se/Minolta Himatic 7sII/some other name Cosina stamped on that model
though, there's no way I could do better than that etc

In other news: It's time to suck at using a rangefinder again because I just don't learn. I can't even focus properly in daylight with that tiny RF so I'm suuuure 1:20AM is the perfect time to learn it and I'm not wasting film.
(Lens is nice though, it's basically a Minolta HiMatic 7sII in disguise)

Fucking @profanity.accountant is asleep at the wheel again

It must be frustrating that the visual or audio fidelity of these models, and whatever improvements might happen, simply don't matter if they're just producing conceptually hollow shells, and the best they can hope for is that they're at least decorative. Fully automated kitsch, what a gift to art

Futurism has got to be my favorite outlet for dogshit campfire stories like this, they all have this weird "My uncle works at nintendo and they already have a Wiii 4 and it's made of glass and can smell fear" energy

Advanced OpenAI Model Caught Sabotaging Code Intended to Shut It Down
OpenAI's latest o3 model frequently sabotaged the script that would shut it down even when it was explicitly told not to.

That's a nightmare blunt rotation right there

Man sollte meinen, dass er sich zumindest zum Incelparteitag nen passenden Anzug rauslegt. Oder mama hat nicht mitbekommen, dass er ein wenig gewachsen ist

It kinda helps that I dumped an old rack switch on them for their actual network so things not looking like a regular home router has just been accepted so far

I feel like "suicide is breaking TOS actually" is less something you'd hear from company leadership, dogshit as it is, and more something a distressed corporate lawyer would say after realizing that they got nothing
Probably hoped that the audience going ”...wat“ buys enough time to quickly run away

I'm still pissed that even SOHO stuff comes with MFP now and I can no longer stop my neighbour from assaulting me with his shit taste in music :(

But where would I park an 18-wheeler

“Trumplicans” also sounds like an alien species that is about 4 foot tall on average and lives on a rocky planet somewhere waaay out in a remote quadrant of the system, with somewhat shitty looking spaceships that remind you of a rusty trash compactor with thrusters

Brute force was the correct instinct then 😅
I wonder if my local pen dealer has these laying around, looks like Lamy uses that feed for a number of different pens and buying tiny parts online feels wrong somehow (also a good excuse as any to give 'em a visit)
November 28, 2025 at 3:32 PM
Unfortunately yes - these tiny little "wings" the nib usually holds on to just broke off on one side. It's technically just 2 millimeters of missing plastic or something, but sometimes that's enough 😅
November 28, 2025 at 3:14 PM
I mean sure, I've never repaired a pen before and don't really know how to get the old feed out of there without brute force, but it's not like incompetence ever stopped me from doing anything
