Saw the “new Raeburn” portrait of Burns at @nationalgalleries.bsky.social, hung beside the Nasmyth — genuinely breathtaking. Go if you can. And do @glasgowburns.bsky.social a favour: spend 5 minutes logging your Burns Supper here:

A passionate group of Scottish history postgraduate students and alumni braved the November chill to gather at the University of Aberdeen for a spectacular winter graduation, museums, festive dinners, and research papers. Best of the Ancients.

A great conference opportunity in Greece for the forward-thinking at the intersection between sustainability, cultural tourism, architecture, and academia.
CFP open for Towards Resilient Destinations: Integrating Nation, Culture and Tourism for Sustainable Futures, looking at Corfu as lab for sustainable tourism. Achim Steiner (former UN SD lead) opening. Inspired by Lawrence Durrell @alannamactavish.bsky.social

Who doesn’t love a good tartan jacket? Makes a big, bold statement. I was in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh recently and saw this painting of journalist Lorraine Kelly by an up and coming young artist.

First time at the Beyond Borders Festival at Traquair House—left inspired. From @murrayp.bsky.social on John Buchan’s enduring relevance to @humzayousaf.bsky.social with William Dalrymple & Afif Safieh on Gaza, the call to reflect & act was unforgettable. 🔗 bbintfest.com/events/curre...

An important reminder from Eisenhower in 1946: “World neighbourliness must be achieved, else we will, in a twinkling, travel a backward route over mankind's long and laborious progress from its ancient caves… We have come far along the road to a cooperative world, we must not turn back now."
