Boston suburb here and it’s nearly $3k/month for us and that’s not the most expensive place we looked at 🥲

We would love to send him somewhere cheaper but there is zero availability. It’s childcare hunger games out there.

The average cost of car ownership is $1k/month when you account for fuel, insurance, and maintenance.

I frankly do not understand how this is what they came up with unless the motivation was to kill the program because of some NIMBYs in Georgetown.

Literally the oath of enlistment expressly states this caveat.

“…that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.”

Everyone hates Storrow Drive anyway! I see no reason to keep something people hate.

I’ll be working on this in the new year! First up is making our block one-way to stop people speeding down it. 💪

I will never understand why people want to spend their precious free time mowing a lawn. 😅

I can’t fit my household of 3 in this, and it costs MORE than our duplex unit in the Boston suburbs. But it’s definitely that we prefer to live in a suburban area.

It’s the same in the US and is still true today.

My husband grew up on a short cul de sac w/ <10 homes. It was safe for them to play in the street and run over to the neighbor’s house bc there were very few cars.

Contrast to my urban street where we have ppl gunning it & cutting through constantly. Very few kids out on our street playing.

And American cities just aren’t very family-friendly! Not nearly enough playgrounds, often too dangerous to play in the street due to cars, and too dangerous to just get around as a kid because of cars. So ppl decide to get a big house w/ a yard on a cul de sac.

I lived car-free in DC!
