At least when I have a conversation with my cat that's another living being. Sure, he doesn't understand the words, or care much what I think, but his disdain is pure & real & beautiful, while the chatbots are just code.

And obviously, the first one doesn't count for anything, it was clearly an industrial accident, not food.

But not /all/ the time. And I’m trying to figure out what does and doesn’t work for me about reviewers talking about themselves when talking about a book. I think in good ones, there’s a sort of… triangulation? Where adding in your own context helps make sense of the perspective being discussed.
