I'm just doing this.
I wish more people would realize that. Yeah, the stereotypes are there for a reason, and plenty of people do it badly, but I will also never say that there are no good reasons or ways to homeschool. I know you're not saying that either. I just wish the discussion around this was better in general.

We worked with the system that I've been a part of for 14 years, but some of our kids needed something different. Good homeschool is like having a great counselor who connects you with the opportunities and resources you need, not a parent-controlled indoctrination program.

I would never say homeschool is the way for everyone to go, but there are many resources out there for parents who have the ability to recognize when their kids need it and the humility to not try to be the expert in every subject. We tried IEPs and 504s, and they didn't fit our needs.

Now, thanks to homeschool, the first has found a way of learning that works for her, has a great social life, and activities she excels in. The second has mastered her anxiety in most situations, tutors other kids, and gets up at 5 in the morning to do calculus and astronomy because she loves it.

I'm a public school teacher, but some of my kids are homeschooled. One of my daughters had a form of epilepsy that made it impossible for her to keep up in a traditional classroom. Another had such severe anxiety she could barely set foot in a room with other kids for a while.

These kids are always such great sports. I'm continually impressed with how they're willing to just roll with whatever I throw at them.

True enough.

But I was recently put in charge of my ward's Christmas program, and I'm hoping to do a song with a cello part. Unfortunately I'm not having any luck finding a cellist.

Yeah, back in the days of Priesthood session I could really enjoy it sometimes, but those few times I didn't have a Saturday night session totally spoiled me.

It will be interesting to see who still gets to speak, though. I'm sure all of the Q15, but will they cut mostly seventies, auxiliaries, have less music, try to be even about it, etc.? Wondering how the structure will change.

Oh, and my grandniece's first birthday party.
