This has been bouncing around in my head for a few years now

Tonight I finally put it into form
Raising the Point of the Spear A Mother’s Prayer Sometimes the responsibility is overwhelming My son is the point of the spear He is fearless He is fierce His defenses of those he loves are something to fear But he is gentle And he is kind And he is loving and he loves But he is the point of the spear And someday that spear will become a man And that point will be wielded in a powerful way I am certain of that And so I must be careful to make sure that the point is pointing in the right direction In defense of the weak In defense of the frightened In defense of those who cannot defend themselves And I must be ever vigilant against the forces that wish to turn this point against the people Those who would seize this point of the spear and wield it for evil Who would use it to hurt the weak Who would use it to terrify the frightened Who would use it to break anyone who dared to stand against them And so I must be careful I am raising the point of the spear And I must make sure it is pointed for good, not for evil And I must make sure that he understands this power And this gift And this curse And that he learns to wield it with the courage that so many lack He is the point of the spear May it ever be pointed in the direction of justice And wielded with mercy and love Amen

We did a full week on Prince Edward Island (near St. Margarets) and it’s the only place besides Cayucos where I felt that I should really just move there

How I feel about blaming Democrats playing "identity politics" as the reason they lost the election

Everyone has an identity; Trump explicitly used identity politics & drew upon multiple cleavages (racial, gender, religious, culture) as part of his divisive message; what identities aren't allowed?
