Scientists from the University of Ottawa and Beijing Institute of Lifeomics found that SSRIs, SNRIs and Tricyclic Antidepressants, commonly prescribed anti-depressants that target the neurotransmitter serotonin, also alter the composition and functioning of the human gut microbiome.

Fast approaching hibernation time now and just the one hedgehog last night, Bramble. She decided against a final snack at 04.40. 🦔

Hoglet update. We’ve had three visiting hoglets over the past month or so. One very underweight one went to our vets and then on to a rescue a few weeks ago. Bramble is doing fine and is a healthy weight. Bebe (pictured) was seriously underweight and is now with the vet and on to a rescue. 🦔

With a trail camera comes great responsibility. We’ve been worried about the hoglet. Tonight we scooped 1st hedgehog to arrive - Bramble who weighed in at a healthy 470g. Bebe appeared 5 minutes later - only 211g. Too small for winter. He’s a house guest tonight and will go to a rescue centre. 🦔

Loganair kindly overflew Old Aberdeen and gave me a bird’s eye view of my old Aberdeen university residences at Hillhead. Yes, does look a bit like a prison complex.

There are two hoglets, Bramble, and this one. Bramble is quite tidy about eating. Let’s call this one Bebe. And he’s not so tidy. 🦔
