Currently writing my first novel: an urban fantasy steeped in Irish mythology for YA readers. Donegal-dwelling bodysurfer, baker, hiker, and mountain biker.
Eh no. It's: 'Why do I only fall sleep minutes before my alarm?'

Me, today, after swimming all the way out through huge dumping sets only to realise my only way back to the beach is to catch one of those huge dumping waves. A pint of sea water and and panic attack later and I'm, thankfully, back on dry land.

Wouldn't it be lovely if we could start a culture of planting a tree at a memorial site when someone dies. So, instead of all the concrete in a graveyard, we could have a living cemetery to visit. A beautiful, peaceful place that heals our hearts as we remember those we've lost along the way.

So orange on land and red on the sea? These warnings drive me crazy. My kids' school is less than 1km from the sea. Where it's predicted to reach storm force 11. But, yeah, send them on to school. #StormBram

As much as I like Oscar, I'm rooting for Lando today. Would be lovely to see that childhood dream come true. #AbuDhabiGrandPrix #F1

The surf has been wonderful this week and I've been out in it every day which is great for a head reset.

If you're looking for a bedtime story to get your children in the mood for the holiday season, then look no further. This atmospheric folk tale from Sophie Anderson is perfect for a winter's night snuggled up in bed. #KidLit #BookRecs

I bought this for my 11 year old and ended up giving it to him early. He has devoured it!

Yes! Gets the whole family involved in a lovely activity. My 9 year old topped his own pizza over the weekend...

Bought an Ooni pizza oven during lockdown and haven't gone out for pizza since. It was expensive at the time but so worth it.

Just back from Christmas shopping where I picked up this beauty. Womdering how I can read it myself before I wrap it for the kids so it doesn't look pre-owned. 🤔

In a similar vein, these nature-themed books are beautiful. Not just in content but their prose is lyrical and poetic.

Looking for Christmas pressies in Waterstones and ngl, I'm a bit disappointed mine are too old now for this one 😞

This also got a 9/10 from the 11 year old. A little more teenage but it hit a chord with him, I think. It is a quirky, beautiful look at the exquisite horror of social anxiety.

My eldest is 11 and reading for pleasure has dropped off massively in the past year. I still read to him and his little brother at night and we listen to audiobooks on car journeys which he loves. Recently he picked this up in Waterstones and has devoured it, cover to cover in a matter of days.
