Is it just me, or is whoever rebranded NREL a Lord of the Rings fan?

NREL to NLotR

"New Lord of the Rings"
"Northern Lord of the Rings"
"Nearly Lord of the Rings"
"Nihilistic Lord of the Rings"

Wha else?

Huh. Pantone's color of the year choice feels completely, utterly tone-deaf. Racial profiling seems to be status quo for the U.S. government, but hey picking a shade of white makes sense. 🤦

Who needs a tree when you’ve got a tree skirt?

They’re currently taking turns diving at it and sliding across the wood floor. 🤣🤣🤣

I read. A lot. 68 books so far this year. I also have a mind like a steel sieve, so I pay attention when books stick with me. If you’re looking for gifts for the holidays, here are books I’ve read this year that have stuck with me:

"...in this corner of planet Earth, you have to be the best of humanity. We can land this together, if you are the best you can be. You are decent, brilliant people.” – Doctor Who

Thinking about this, I wonder at what an amazing world it would be if WE all tried to be the be best of humanity.

Can we talk about the 2nd half of this article? Unsubsidized solar and utility-scale solar, NOT CSP (which is what Ivanpah is), make way more sense economically. Repeating: unsubsidized.

I love living where I do. Ten minutes before I snapped this pic, I was walking in the rain.

As renewables investment grows to $386B in H1 2025 globally, I believe the phrase this article is adroitly avoiding is, "the US is getting left in the dust." Quite literally if Arizona is any indication.

Received my copy of Faraway Dreaming by Ulla Thynell.
For me it’s a beautiful meditation of a journey through a forest. Every page asks me to stop and observe. Love it!

For all my fellow scifi nerds coming to Seattle this week for WorldCon, don’t worry, you’ll get to experience “real” PNW weather, inclusive of sun, rain, and dramatic shifts in temperature.
