I'll say it again: if MAGA, a movement with no interest in facts and a pathological zero-sum mindset says we're doing things wrong in Europe, it's more likely an unintended acknowledgement that what we're doing is good for us than well-meaning advice.

This is a waste of time and human lives. How long will Ukrainian and EU leaders have to play along with Trump's little game of 'deal making'? It's never had a chance of success and it's never been meant to be successful, except as a way to keep up appearances while letting the damage unfold.

OK, read the piece. They do it for punishment. I distinctly remember something about cruel (✔️) and unusual (✔️) punishment in the Bill. Maybe it's becoming less and less unusual, but it remains incredibly cruel.

Why?!? With suspected terrorists I can understand what you might gain from it (information), but what is it they may get from an immigrant? Info on more witches, umh, immigrants?
Also: black sites exist(ed) outside the US because even those running them didn't think they were legal in the US.

Which isn't to say that the US factually IS a democracy. It used to be, by law and custom, but these days it's becoming more of a plutocracy or an oligarchy and a sham democracy.

came here to say that: the overlap is big enough to make democracy almost a form of republic. Most modern democracies are republics.
It's just that MTG et al. want to declare Republicans the more legitimate leaders of the US than Democrats, so they say the US isn't a democracy but a republic. 🤦
