What a nightmare. I am so glad you're OK and have good treatment. If you feel you have any concussion symptoms, report them. As we get older, the brain is really vulnerable to shock (long story, but I know this from personal experience). Hope you'll have a peaceful night and pain-free tomorrow.

Was just out in my back yard today admiring all the mint that springs up opportunistically from my neighbour's back garden. This will be a perfect use for it! Thanks, Daniel 😉

Love the hash tag!

I am so sorry, Joseph! Do you have a heating pad or something similar? If so, use it! I was hit many years ago and had whiplash and the heating pad helped with the soreness immensely. Take care and report anything odd to your doctor immediately. You will be in my thoughts. ❤️‍🩹

I do this all the time! And somehow never learn my lesson. *sigh*

Yes! As I was finishing it up, I really wished my grandmother could have read it (she'd be around 108 were she alive now). She loved cozy English fiction like Miss Read but she also loved Barbara Vine/Ruth Rendell. And Miss Marshall would have delighted her.

As a Californian, I have never seen or heard of these (I know what a regular kolache is but...this is not that!) They look yummy, though!

It's funny how different our life experiences/memories can be despite the fact we both love "classical music". For me, as a former ballet dancer, this music is etched into my brain and I would have immediately seen the choreography in my head. But I know to others it's just a pretty piece of music.

What starts as a village cozy ala Miss Read morphs into something midnight black and then takes an abrupt turn into something so moving I was crying my eyes out in the middle of the night (cat was not impressed). Wonderful, masterfully designed book. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

They are such sad, small, useless little men and the only place they hold any weight is Xitter. They're nobodies exiled to nowhere and deep inside they know it. And it makes them so, so angry. Congratulations on your success! May your career be long and storied.

I love this song! Had no idea there was a video associated. What lovely women they were. May they rest in eternal peace together.

They are just the most ridiculous, unserious, unqualified people. Unbelievable.

BTW, I've been listening to a live 1953 recording of Aroldo with Antonietta Stella, Gino Penno, and Aldo Protti with Tullio Serafin conducting and it's really good. Sounds a little muffled on occasion but Stella and Protti are outstanding. Really engaged and tuned into one another as father/daughter

Oh heavens! I just noticed my butchery of I masnadieri. 😵‍💫

It's still worth listening to as Verdi is almost a decade older and that much more skilled in composition but I think the first opera is more inspired, at least in its restored form. Thus endeth my due lire! 😉

The major arias seem to be the same/similar but the choruses are sometimes quite different, minor characters who added to the ensembles in Stiffelio disappear and there is, of course, an extra act. The whole thing feels less inward and personal and more stock historical to me.

This is a good question and I'm not really qualified to answer it as I'm even less familiar with Aroldo than Stiffelio 😁Nonetheless, after a day spent listening to the former and some cursory research, I'd say Aroldo is far more conventional and the framing music and structure is different.

The hair, the shirt, the sidelong glance... dear sir, you look amazing! Happy International Men's Day to you!

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one lagging! LOL!
