Alas, to anyone out there hoping @harvard.edu will do anything about racist sex-pest Larry Summers, let’s remember that despite escalating pressure and years of protest, notable anthro sex pest John Comaroff was never fired—his big punishment was not receiving emeritus status when he retired

very funny to read these emails and then remember summers wondering whether the leaky pipeline in stem was because women are inherently bad at math
The emails have Summers reporting to Epstein about his attempts to date a Harvard economics student & to hit on her during a seminar she was giving.

He is 100% correct
Nick Fuentes, who has praised Hitler and is openly antisemitic, says Republicans are hypocrites for “tolerating cruelty and abuse” toward Muslims, Black people, and other minorities while drawing the line at antisemitism. He argues his own politics are simply the logical end point of that bigotry...

These are the conditions in which our brothers and sisters in #Gaza are living. Many need funds to acquire tents and clothes suitable for this season. Please contribute to any campaign on lifeline4gaza.com and remember that sharing the appeals listed there is free and helps a lot.

Alice Wong taught us that disabled people don’t just leave memories behind—they leave infrastructure. Lineages of care. Methods of collectivity, survival. She named the connective tissue that holds our communities together, even across death, even across the losses that come too fast and too often.

“Hochul enrages people who live on planet earth and hope to continue doing so”
Something centre-right journalists absolutely love is the "enrages environmentalists" framing

It presents climate / enviro folks as irrational, salivating and constantly infuriated idiots, whereas 'centrist' pro-fossil politicians are Very Serious, level-headed Adults In The Room

Please stop using language that suggests that people with criminal records are appropriate targets for this administration's violence. One in three adults has a criminal record. Stop playing sacrifice games with fascists. Stop surrendering entire categories of people in your own mind.

Jonathan Chait has disparaged the NYT Contributor Boycott as an “insidiously illiberal maneuver” that abandons “faith in public reason.” He is right on this point. Antifascism undeniably involves—at least outside of dinner parties—a conscious measure of illiberalism. www.newarab.com/opinion/no-o...

I hope nondisabled people are listening to disabled people as we’ve discussed the mass hemorrhaging of accessible jobs, layoffs over accommodations and spike of tools used to screen out disabled employees in the past few years (which ends survival possibilities for us)

If you know anyone involved with infection control at @uhn.ca, ask them why the policy isn't to use N95s. Do they understand how sketchy the claim is that medical masks are good enough? Is this all "just following orders"? Do they still believe they have nothing to learn from non-MDs?

Just...why?
Here goes UHN in Toronto (👉including the cancer hospital👈), repeating the same mistakes as always, because doing the right thing is less important for hospital admin than covering up having constantly done the wrong thing since COVID hit.

MEDICAL MASKS ARE NOT AEROSOL PPE, YOU NEED AN N95!

🤬🤡
Mask mandate returns to UHN facilities ahead of respiratory virus season
Masks must be worn in all UHN facilities, including Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital and the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre as of Nov. 18
