A major win for AFGE and for federal workers’ rights. A federal judge sided with unionized ED employees after partisan out-of-office messages were added to their emails without consent.

📢 BREAKING: The Dept. of Ed has halted both the October & March 2025 RIFs, according to a recent legal declaration.

The agency confirmed that all actions related to the RIFs have been paused while the court considers the scope of the preliminary injunction.

BREAKING: A federal judge has blocked the Trump administration from laying off more than 4,000 federal employees during the government shutdown (including the Department of Education’s entire Office of Special Education Programs.)

Public education isn’t a playground for political agendas. Federal employees at ED serve all students, regardless of faith, background, or zip code. We stand for a Department of Education that protects democracy, not dismantles it.
The Education Department has hired at least 9 people from the America First Policy Institute, co-founded by Secretary Linda McMahon.

The think tank’s listed goals include ending the separation of church and state and “plant[ing] Jesus in every space.”
