It'd probably be a better career move to deny 100% of it and let people wonder than to take it to a courtroom and and prove that 25% of it is true and 75% isn't, especially if that 25% was the catch-and-kill, Sanford, or secret recording stuff.

Obviously speculating here, but I think the issue is that it doesn't all need to be true. The stuff Lizza has alleged is so toxic that even if just 25% of it actually happened, it would likely still be a career-ender for her. I'd be hesitant to take it to court in that situation, personally.

It's not even that I disbelieve all of it necessarily--after the RFK stuff that's already been confirmed, I'm ready to believe anything. But as sources go, "guy saying ex who humiliated him is a liar and sleeps around" is a pile of red flags wearing a trench coat.

She had agency and she made a choice with it that badly tarnished her colleagues' work. She has also, for all intents and purposes, suffered no professional consequences for it whatsoever. She's an editor at Vanity Fair! Spare me the "leave Brittany alone" act.

Studies have not ruled out the possibility that the 2006 remake of Miami Vice, starring Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell, causes autism, because that's not how studies work. bsky.app/profile/mjsd...
We can laugh about how stupid this is, but at the end of the day, a not-insignificant number of parents will believe the CDC and refuse to vaccinate. And some of their children will die because of it.

I suppose I should qualify "completely harmless": they are capable of biting, but their bite has only minor effects—light redness and swelling in the worst case—and you have to really, really harass one before it decides to chomp.
